OPTIMUS - Centre for OptoElectronics and Biophotonics is a research centre hosted by the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE). The OPTIMUS was established in July 2011. To better achieve our mission, OPTIMUS has engaged in numerous emerging R&D activities in tandem with the development of photonics technologies in the world. Also, OPTIMUS has engaged our local industrial partners on training specialist manpower, consultation and advisory services as well as joint research collaboration to tackle emerging technologies issues.
The roadmap of OPTIMUS in the coming year is charted on the vision, trends and developments of the technology landscape in Singapore. OPTIMUS envisages a tighter research collaboration with industry and international insitutions which is necessary for adapting to technological changes and meeting the challenging demands globally. OPTIMUS will forge ahead through new technology frontiers and is poised to cultivate world-class research and human capital for the vibrant knowledge-based economy. We will continue to be mission-driven in alignment with NTU to create a global university of excellence.
Today’s OPTIMUS owes its success to the collective efforts of all our members and partners. On this occasion, we would like to take this opportunity to thank the current and former chairs of school of EEE, Prof. Yoon Soon Fatt and Cheng Tee Hiang for their unwavering supports for OPTIMUS and to all our staff and students who have contributed their time and efforts in making OPTIMUS a vibrant place of learning and discovery.
